Below is a list of upcoming meetings, guided tours and cultural events related to the Morris Canal. Please check back for updates and let us know about any new events being scheduled!



  • Bloomfield Morris Canal Hike: This hike covers the north end of the Morris Canal Greenway in Bloomfield. The hike starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 20. Morris Canal enthusiast and Bloomfield Councilman Rich Rockwell will lead the hike, which starts at the Pilch Street foot bridge behind Demarest School.   • Shadows of the Past at Waterloo Village: Hear untold stories of Waterloo during lantern lit tours on Friday October 19, Saturday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 24, when there is a full moon! Tickets are $10 per person. This event is recommended for adults. To reserve tickets call (973) 347-1835.

  • Waterloo Village Fall Festival: This festival has activities for all ages on Saturday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There's a beer garden, ghost stories in the mule barn, a scavenger hunt for children, building tours by interpretive educators, food trucks, artisan vendors, a bee observation, cavalry encampment, lace and blacksmith demonstrations and more!   • Bloomfield Morris Canal Hike & Bus Ride: The Bloomfield Morris Canal Greenway Committee, the Bloomfield Recreation Department and the Historical Society of Bloomfield are sponsoring a three-mile hike on saturday November 3. There will also be a two-mile bus ride stopping at sites where the canal is still intact. Reservations are required and a $5 donation is requested.
